This week’s issue marks exactly one year since the Picton Gazette found new publishers, on 8 May 2023. We mark the occasion with Eliza Kozurno’s Still Life with Gazette (acrylic on canvas, 2023). The artist visited the newspaper offices on Picton Main Street last summer and was so inspired by this thriving local print newspaper, she created this painting, which we love. It puts the Gazette right at the center, a work of art, thought, and imagination that reflects and animates a whole community. The Gazette lives through all those who write, read, send ideas, photograph, design, advertise, and paint in its pages. We could not do it without each and every one of you. If this first year was just the beginning, we cannot wait to see what comes next. —Chris and Karen
